Summer Camp 2005

It was just brought to my attention that we haven’t made any mention of the Summer Camp Festival right here in Illinois. To tell you the truth, I hadn’t heard of it before. It looks like 2005 is at least the third year they’re doing it. This year it will be a three day festival over Memorial Day weekend (May 27, 28, 29). Summer Camp 2005 will be at Three Sisters Park in Chillicothe, Illinois — that’s just outside of Peoria. Check their website for more details.

It looks like moe. will be headlining with more artists to be announced soon. They promise 30 bands on three stages including late night shows. Last year they had the following lineup: moe., Keller Williams, Umphrey’s McGee, Leftover Salmon, Medeski Martin & Wood, JMP, Charlie Hunter, Jeff Austin (of Yonder Mountain), Jim Donovan, Particle, Oteil & the Peacemakers, Groovatron, Bockman’s Euphio and many, many more!

If anyone has been to Summer Camp in the past or can add any information, please do! This sounds like a great time much closer to home than Bonnaroo, Langerado, Wakarusa, etc. Definitely let me know if you plan on going. I’ll post more info here as I get it.

Summer Camp

Summer Camp is an awsome smaller festival. The site (Three Sister’s Park in Chillicothe which is 10 minutes North of Peoria)is beutiful. Moe. will headline Sat. and Sun. and someone else will headline Friday(although Moe. members will probably sit in with the headliner). Umphrey’s Mcgee is alreaday confirmed and might headline Friday night. The rest of the bands will be announced soon.

Alcohol Question

I just checked out the Summer Camp website. They mention that you can’t bring any outside alcohol. To me, that restriction seems unreasonable. Do you know how strictly this is enforced?

Raq

I’ve also heard that RAQ (www.raqmusic.com) will be playing at Summer Camp this year, but that’s not confirmed.

I’m real happy to hear about Umphrey’s. This should be a real good time.

Tickets and Headliners

The Summer Camp website has been updated. They have announced the headliners and early bird tickets are on sale.

There will be two nights with moe. plus Keller Williams and Umphrey’s McGee have been confirmed.

Early bird tickets are $85 for a three day pass. There’s four tiers of prices. After the early birds sell out, the prices go up to $95 then $105 and finally $115. Get you tickets now for maximum savings!

The Summer Camp website has added a bunch of artists that will be performing this year. For starters, moe. will be playing three nights. Umphrey’s McGee and Keller Williams are still on the bill. Here’s the rest of this year’s lineup so far:

Open Mic Stage

I just saw that Elmwood Brewing is sponsoring an open mic stage at Summer Camp. From the website:

Musicans! Bring only your guitars & pedals! We’ll be providing the P.A., amps, drums, stage, etc!

Two bands will be acting as MC’s and musicians in between Open Mic acts. Musicians, come on over and play your tunes for the Summer Camp crowd!

No one has answered the question about bringing alcohol into the event, but I also see that Elmwood will be selling 1/2 gallon growlers of beer. Depending on the price, that may make drinking more economical.
