I wanted to post a “Thank You” to everyone involved in last week’s Chicago Jams Presents show at Otto’s Niteclub in DeKalb. It was a really great time and thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Thanks to Otto’s for having us. They have great staff and made everything easy. Particular thanks to Alex who worked the sound.

Thanks to the fans that made it out. It was a stormy night, and I know DeKalb is a long drive for a lot of you. It was worth it wasn’t it?

Finally, a huge thank you to all the bands! Obviously, it wouldn’t be possible without you.

Chicago Jams is proud to announce a three band extravaganza in beautiful downtown DeKalb, Illinois.

On Friday, August 19th Los Des, The Herbert Wiser Band and Function will be coming together upstairs in the main room of Otto’s Niteclub in DeKalb.

We expect this to be the first show of a long relationship between Chicago Jams and Otto’s. It’s also an excellent opportunity to see three great bands we’ve featured here at Chicago Jams.

The music starts at 10:00 p.m. and the cover charge is just $5.00 — a bargain at twice the price! Otto’s is located at 118 E. Lincoln Highway, Dekalb [map] just blocks away from Northern Illinois University and close to I-88.

Function is planning on rocking the house at Manhattan’s in Palos Heights on August 27th. Show time is 9:00 p.m. They are tenatively opening for MWC (Midnight Wandering Circus).

Manhattan’s is at 300 S. Schmale Rd in Palos Heights. We’ll have more info when available.

ATABA Lineup Changes

Recently, Andy Berg decided to leave ATABA to pursue personal interests and other projects.

At about the same time, the band found a new keyboardist — Matthew “Keyz” Mehawick. If you’ve been following the band for a long time, you may have seen him sitting in before, but now he has joined them as an official member.

All the band’s confirmed shows are still scheduled and the guys are certain that the line-up changes will be a positive step in the long run. They are currently reviewing names for the new group.

We wish Andy the best with whatever he decides to do next. We will be sure to keep you informed of any of Andy’s or the new band’s future projects.

Because we now have almost 400 pictures of bands, shows, festivals, etc., I decided to make this page a jumping-off point. You can still reach the pictures the same way you did in the past, but this should make it easier to find what you're looking for.

Bonnaroo Experiences

We’ve been getting a lot of traffic to this website from people looking for information on Bonnaroo. Most recently, a new member — bakedlays69, was asking for advice about the festival. I’m going to try to answer some of the questions from my own experience. Anyone else reading this please feel free to pipe in.

“How thorough are the searches when you first reach the gate to get in?”

I think this totally depends on where and when you come in. When I finally got to the gate last year it was about midnight Thursday, I think. That seemed to be one of the heaviest times for people coming in. We didn’t get searched at all. They might have shined a flashlight in the car, but that was about it. We ended up camped pretty close to the entrance to the lot though, so I saw how they were handling things throughout the weekend. If there was a lot of traffic, especially at night, they weren’t searching. If there was only a little traffic and during the day, they were being more thorough — going through trunks and coolers. I never saw them going into glove boxes or small personal containers. I think they were mostly looking for any big violations — fireworks, nitrous tanks, pets. I never saw anyone get busted for anything coming in.
