Band Bio

The Make Believe is an intensely creative quartet of top notch players quickly ascending the ranks of Chicago's improvisational rock scene. Catchy, original song-crafting, tight grooves, and full throttle jamming are each trademarks of the groups fresh and evolving sound. Taking from the jam-band world, incorporating jazz, fusion, rock, soul, and reggae, the group handles these styles with enough grace and confidence to make even first time listeners believers. Beginning in the summer '04, TMB was the brainchild of guitarist and songwriter Ernie Handrickson and drummer/composer Brian Abraham. Joinned by keyboardist Brian Felix, formerly of the well known bay-area jazz-funk group The OM Trio, and Chris Clemente, renowed Chicago bassist recognized in bass player magazine for his work in fusion groups, the band began to discover its true potential. After completing a two month residency at Chicago's Tonic Room, TMB landed a spot on Triple Dot MAS's Winter Compliation CD featuring bands such as Umphrey's Mcgee and Fareed Haque Group. Their self-titled debut E.P., set for release in mid February, boasts an impressive list of special guests, including Joel Cummins, keyboardist for Umphrey's Mcgee, and Serbian guitar prodigy Goram Ivanovic.
